Your library stays on your Mac.

Neginato is built to stay out of your way and off the network. It collects no analytics and sends no diagnostics, telemetry, crash reports, or usage data — not from any feature, and not in the background. There is no “phone home.”

In short: unless you play a radio station or search the station directory, Neginato makes no network requests at all — and your library never leaves your Mac.

What stays on your Mac

  • Your music files are read only. Neginato never writes to, renames, moves, or deletes them. It runs in the macOS App Sandbox with read-only access to the single folder you pick.
  • Your library index, artwork, waveforms, playlists, and settings live in a local database on your Mac.
  • No account, no sign-in, no cloud sync.

When the network is used

Internet Radio is the only feature that touches the network, and both of its requests are ones you start:

  • Playing a station. Neginato connects to that station's stream. The stations you save are your choice.
  • Searching for a station. When you press Search in the Add Station dialog, Neginato queries the Radio-Browser.info public directory with the name or genre you typed. Nothing is fetched before you press it — the dialog opens completely offline.

Nothing else reaches out. There is no launch-time check, no update ping, no license call, and no background request of any kind.

About the station directory. Search results come from Radio-Browser.info, a third-party, community-maintained public directory. Neginato does not vet, curate, endorse, or guarantee any listed station — the app says so before your first search, and gives you a way to report a bad listing.

Auto DJ never uses the network

Auto DJ builds playlists and a never-ending station from your library — and it does all of it on your Mac. Earlier versions offered this through Google Gemini and asked for an API key; that is gone, and so is everything it needed:

  • No account, no sign-in, no API key, no subscription. Nothing to set up beyond a single switch in Settings.
  • Nothing about your library is uploaded — not titles, not artists, not albums, not audio, not artwork. Auto DJ works exactly the same with Wi-Fi switched off.
  • Every choice is worked out from the index Neginato already built when it imported your music: tags, plus the waveform overview it already drew for the scrubber. No audio is re-analyzed or sent anywhere.
  • It only ever picks tracks that are already on your disk — it cannot suggest music you don't own.
